Small print, set readable. This is what we collect, why, who touches it, and what you can do about it. No tricks in the footnotes; that is rather the point of us.
who we are
Bargain Blocks Ltd, company number 17397904, registered in England & Wales at 33 Jacobs Wells Road, Bristol BS8 1DQ. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@bargainblocks.co.uk.
what we collect
We collect personal data you give us and data we need to run your block:
- Enquiries and quotes: your name, email address, phone number if you choose to give one, block name and size, and anything you include when you write to us or use the till on our website.
- Correspondence: emails between you and us, kept so we know what was said and agreed.
- Service records for managed blocks: leaseholder names, addresses, service charge accounts, payment records and related documents, because that is the job.
If you reach us by clicking an advert, the advert reference in the web address is read from that address and included in the quote email, so we know which advert paid for your enquiry.
cookies and measurement
We measure how the website is used, with Google Analytics and Google Ads. We do it to find out which adverts are worth paying for and where the till loses people, not to build a profile of you.
Before you say yes, no cookies are set. Measurement runs in a reduced form: Google is told that a page was viewed and, if you arrived from an advert, which advert it was. Nothing is written to or read from your device, so you cannot be recognised on your next visit or anywhere else.
If you say yes, Google sets cookies (including _ga and _gcl_aw) that let us count returning visitors and connect a quote request back to the advert click that produced it. Saying no changes nothing about how the site works, and we do not ask again in a different disguise.
What we actually look at: which pages people read, which advert or search brought them, roughly where in the world they are, what size of block they price at the till, which options they tick, and whether the quote form worked. Your name, email address and phone number are never sent to Google. They appear only in the quote email that comes to us.
The legal basis for the cookies is your consent, under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the UK GDPR. You can change your mind at any time using the cookies link in the footer of any page. Your answer is remembered in your browser's local storage under bb_consent so that we stop asking; that one entry is strictly necessary and is stored whichever way you answer. We ask again about every six months.
how we use it
- To answer you, price your block and provide the service (performance of a contract, or steps before one).
- To meet legal obligations: accounting records, statutory filings, landlord and tenant law.
- To run the business sensibly (legitimate interests), never to sell your data or send marketing you did not ask for.
the AI we use
We use artificial intelligence and automation to deliver our services: drafting documents and correspondence, processing enquiries, preparing demands, bookkeeping and reminders. It is a large part of how the price stays silly.
People with years of block management experience review everything that matters, and no decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you is made by automation alone. If you want a human to look at anything, ask and one will.
AI processing may involve the third-party providers listed below acting on our instructions.
who else touches your data
We use a small number of processors to run the service. They act on our instructions under their own security and data processing terms:
- Google (Google Workspace) — email and document hosting.
- Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads): website measurement and advertising, as described above, and only with cookies once you have agreed to them.
- Vercel — website hosting, including standard server logs.
- Resend — sending transactional email, such as your quote from the till.
- Anthropic — AI processing that helps us draft and administer, as described above.
- GoDaddy — domain and DNS services.
Some providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell personal data. We share it beyond the list above only if the law requires it or you ask us to.
how long we keep it
Enquiries that go nowhere: up to 12 months, then deleted. Client and accounting records: six years after the relevant year end, because tax and company law say so. Correspondence: for as long as we manage your block plus the same six years. Website measurement data in Google Analytics: 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically.
your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict it, or object to how we use it, and you can take your data elsewhere. Email hello@bargainblocks.co.uk and we will respond within a month.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
